Tourist tax on the Costa del Sol: the current situation

Guests from France or Italy often expect a tourist tax on arrival and ask about it. In Andalusia the picture differs from Catalonia or the Balearics. Here is how it stands now, so you can inform your guests correctly.

Is there a tourist tax in Andalusia?

Unlike Catalonia and the Balearics, Andalusia currently has no regional per-night tourist tax. There is political debate about introducing one in busy areas, but a general levy does not yet exist. Keep an eye on local announcements, as municipalities and the region can change this policy.

What do you owe instead?

You do pay income tax on your rental income. Non-residents do this through the modelo 210. On top of that your usual duties apply: VFT registration and guest registration via SES Hospedajes. Ideally have a gestor or tax adviser handle your tax return.

It is being discussed, but no scheme is in force yet. Follow official announcements.
How do I declare rental income?
Non-residents use the modelo 210. A gestor helps you do this correctly.
